Since Innova JC is only about 10 mins walk from my house, I decided to walk there. Reached there on time and met many of my old friends. First person I met was Rashidah. She's helping a fellow teacher put up an exhibition. Then I search for Yati. So many people around that its hard to spot her in the crowd. Other friends I met was Norhayati ( AISS ), Liyana aka Juraida, Mus, Nora... and also some people I haven't met for many, many, many years! Azmann, Bobo and imran... Many others I can't remember now. Seminar was good. learnt about the meanings behind some of the popular pantuns. The lecturer was amazing. So much knowledge he has, looks like a thinking man. The other lecturer was really entertaining. i can imagine the students in his class. I'm sure they look forward to his lessons everyday. both of them perform live for us... they sing the syair & pantun, they recite the sajak... My takeaway from the seminar is that to teach malay literature, one needs to bring it to life. When it becomes interesting, students will be motivated.
enough about the seminar. after that, walked to causeway point with norhayati ( AI ), sunita and zan. Sunita, zan and I had early dinner at Swensons ( the salmon and mushroom baked rice is nice!), shopped at JL and then sat down for coffee at Ya Kun toast. We talked and talked and talked til 8.30pm! Miss those NIE days when we had so much time to walk around town and sat down for coffee.
Look at how much I've written! This is what happens when I have some time on my hands. Better get up and do the housechores now. Will write again another day...
